Net Impact Small Steps, Big Wins

Next

Project Summary:

Today’s global problems seem massive and unsolvable – it’s easy for young people to get overwhelmed and turn away. But, Fission, working with Net Impact, aimed to solve that problem by inspiring students to “take the first step” in becoming change makers at their universities.

The “Small Steps, Big Wins” campaign helped students across the country take small, simple actions that collectively have big social and environmental impact. The national collegiate challenge’s website and accompanying Facebook application allowed students to learn about various actions they could take on their campus, record those actions, and win points for doing so. The points were tallied into their university’s overall total, allowing students to compete with other schools all around the nation.

Fission helped create the challenge, design the logo, build the website, and provided general communication strategy and support for the campaign.

Over 4,500 actions were taken using the Facebook application, including air-drying laundry to save over 729,000 watts of energy and walking or riding a bike to school, reducing 1,823.6 pounds of CO2.
