Facebook Power Editor Trick: One Image, 2 Ads!
Posted by Brian Cicero on April 3, 2015
At Fission Strategy we develop innovative marketing and advertising ideas for our clients all the time. When it comes to creative content that Facebook users will be inspired to click and engage with, we don’t like to brag but… its kinda our specialty. Part of our creativity is also thinking about efficiency and how we can get even more for our clients in the products we deliver. Cuz, let’s be honest, Nonprofit budgets can be tight. But, a small budget doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice quality or quantity when it comes to content for your Facebook advertising campaigns, you just have to be resourceful. For example, making one image that can be used in 3 different ways.
Start with a Post, Plan for an Ad
One standard size for a Facebook post image is 504 x 504, better known as a square. The standard dimensions for Click to Website or Website Conversion ads are 1,200 x 682, better known as a rectangle. What can two rectangles make? I think you know where I’m going with this… yes a square!
So when planning your square post images if you think about your canvas as 2 rectangles and design each rectangle to work independently or together you can potentially get 2 Ads and 1 share image all from the same image.
Below are some examples of share images that can be cropped to make ads.
Cropping a Share Image into an Ad in Facebook Power Editor
The next step is very simple if you are familiar with Facebook Power Editor. When you are creating you add upload the square post image and click the “Reposition” button. From there you can crop the image and reuse it as a rectangular ad.
It may seem like a simple and obvious trick, and that’s because it can be… if you plan it out that way. When it comes to being savvy for our clients, we think of all the ways we can help them reach and engage with their audience.
